Degree Options:

This program provides the general and science education courses appropriate for students who are interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture and related fields. Students will be introduced to agricultural systems, animal science and crop growth & development. They will learn skills to get a head start in a variety of agriculture settings.

网赌正规真人实体在线平台 has a customized articulations agreement in Field Crop Management  and Fruit and Vegetable Management with Washington State University (WSU) and BAS in Agriculture Systems from Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) intented to eliminate duplication of coursework and better integrate a transfer pathway to WSU and WWCC.

This program prepares students for a career in agricultural crop production, precision agriculture, and hydroponics and greenhouse management. Students will learn to identify and describe crop varieties, pests, diseases and weeds of the Pacific Northwest. They will gain skills in utilizing precision agriculture techniques in crop production and irrigation management.

Jobs & Internships

Students who believe on-campus employment opportunities could be a valuable part of their education are encouraged to apply for Summer 2022 opportunities. 

Interns could be exposed to and learn about agricultural and plant science research disciplines including Plant Pathology, Entomology, Genetics, Breeding, Plant Physiology, Molecular Biology and Precision Agriculture. Interns will be involved in research programs assisting with planting, transplanting, fertilizing, and harvesting horticultural and agronomic crops (peppers, melons, forage legumes, grapes, apples) during summer growing season (June to August). The selected interns will work and be exposed to research in a rotation through three working environments (Columbia Basin College, Pasco; Washington State University’s Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center and United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service (also at the IAREC), Prosser, WA) for 10 weeks (40 hours/week).

Program Learning Outcomes for Agriculture

Program learning outcomes are the knowledge, skills, and abilities that students will achieve before they graduate. The outcomes below were developed by the faculty in Agriculture with input from accrediting bodies, advisory committees, employers, etc. This collaboration ensures that the outcomes are relevant for careers that this degree leads to.

Students graduating with an AA or an AAS from the Agriculture Program will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe crop varieties, pests, diseases, and weeds from planting through harvesting.
  2. Demonstrate proper safety procedures in all aspects of crop production.
  3. Demonstrate proper use of production equipment and maintenance.
  4. Utilize precision techniques in crop production and irrigation.
  5. Demonstrate comprehension of agriculture business and marketing.
  6. Describe systems of production and management of animal husbandry.
